Archie Meikle
Managing Director

HNC Construction Management qualified and an SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) Project Manager, Archie set up his own specialist subcontract business at the age of 21, developed it, successfully sold it and held senior board positions with a UK plc and a multi-disciplinary Scottish construction group before founding Ashwood Scotland in 1999.

He is fully conversant with business compliance and has a thorough understanding of strategic business planning, business development and marketing strategies.


Graeme Hadden FCMI MCIOB
Construction Director

An HNC graduate in Building, a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, a  Member of the Chartered Institute of Building and an SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) Project Manager, Graeme brings huge construction management experience and expertise, particularly in the heritage conservation and restoration fields.

He is a Past President of the Stone Federation of Great Britain.

Graeme now oversees our dedicated team of full-time site-based Project Managers, liaising closely with customers, end users, and design teams alike to ensure all objectives of our projects are clearly understood, that works are completed to specification and quality requirements, on time, on budget, and that our Heath & Safety Policy, our Environmental Policy and our ISO9001 Quality Manual are rigorously adhered to and our procedures fully implemented.


David Charman BSc (hons)
Commercial Director

A BSc Honours graduate in Quantity Surveying & Building Economics from Heriot Watt University, David oversees all Ashwood commercial functions including development evaluations, managing our team of dedicated contract surveyors, reviewing contract cost controls and contractual obligations and all aspects of our monthly management profit & loss reporting.


Arthur Todd
Procurement Manager

Arthur as Procurement Manager is responsible for estimating and buying on all Ashwood projects.

He is well versed in local and national markets, able to negotiate and place orders to meet programme and provide advice on added value, specification alternatives, buildability and betterment.


Michelle Burns
Accounts and Office Manager

Michelle as Accounts Manager supervises, monitors and evaluates all day-to-day accounting activities on all Ashwood projects.

She manages our accountancy software packages, month and year end processes, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, utilities, fixed asset activity and debt activity.

As Office Manager Michelle is the first point of contact for all visitors and responsible for office hardware and software, general email, databases, filing and administrative systems, supplies, new staff inductions, first aid, promoting and arranging staff development and training, implementing and promoting our equality and diversity policy and responding to customer enquiries and complaints.


Brian Mackay MCIOB, MaPS
Technical Manager

An HND graduate in Civil Engineering, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building, a Member of the Association for Project Safety and an SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) Project Manager.

Following semi-retirement from his former role as Construction Director, Brian as Technical Manager provides support on Contractor Design, programming, CDM, Health & Safety, and quality matters.
