What we did

On this Grade ‘B’ listed church we carried out an extension and refurbishment to the existing structure while it was maintained in use throughout  the week. Work required refurbishment to the listed church forming new kitchen / cafe area and common usage space. Work in the main was for internal refurbishment within the church with external refurbishment and extension to form new access.

Works required us to meet listed requirements by planning on the external refurbishment of the structure a new access and internally forming kitchen and cafe. Externally block work, slate roof and lead work was repaired and renewed. Overhaul of the existing building required the repair to the existing roof requiring investigation for rot and remedial work carried out with replacement of slate.

Existing stonework was re-pointed with repairs to window and door lintels and cills. Internal common access ways were refurbished with services upgraded. A new plant room was constructed with new electrical and plumbing installations. Work was managed by Douglas Banks Project Manager Brian Mackay Construction Director.

The work required close interface with local business and users as well as ensuring public access was maintained at all times. We maintained the daily use of the building for community use during the construction for preschool groups, pensioners clubs and meetings, working closely to ensure to ensure safety was maintained and disruption minimised.

Work was completed to time, below budget and specification.
