Archie Meikle Ashwood Scotland

Archie Meikle – Managing Director

HNC Construction Management qualified and a CITB SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) Project Manager, Archie set up his own specialist subcontract business at the age of 21, developed it, successfully sold it and held senior board positions with a UK plc and a multi-disciplinary Scottish construction group before founding Ashwood in 1999.

Archie is a member of the Institute of Directors and board member of the Voluntary Sector Gateway West Lothian.

He is fully conversant with business compliance and has a thorough understanding of strategic planning, business and speculative development and marketing strategies.

David Charman – Commercial Director

A BSc Honours graduate in Quantity Surveying & Building Economics from Heriot Watt University Edinburgh and Ashwood Commercial Director since formation in 1999, David leads all Ashwood commercial functions on and off site including supervising our team of dedicated contract surveyors.

He has sound financial judgement, overseeing all Customer commercial reporting, managing contract cost controls, all aspects of our internal profit & loss reporting, our own development evaluations and property portfolio.

He is responsible for all Ashwood contractual, finance and insurance matters.

Graeme Hadden – Construction Director

HNC Building qualified, a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Building and a CITB SMSTS Project Manager, Graeme provides Ashwood vast experience and professionalism in modern construction and heritage works on building projects of significant local, national and international importance.

Graeme oversees our full-time site-based Project Managers, liaising with Customers, end users, and design teams to ensure all objectives are clearly understood and delivered.

He is a Past President of the Stone Federation of Great Britain and former Director at St Mary’s Cathedral Workshop steering their exemplary ‘Young Hands for Old Skills’ traditional craft apprenticeships programmes.

Arthur Todd – Estimating Manager

Arthur as Procurement Manager is responsible for estimating, tender preparation and submission on all Ashwood projects from initial enquiry through to successful award and handover to our contract teams.

He oversees our approved subcontractor lists, issues enquiries to and ensures bona-fide returns from our most suitable specialist subcontract and materials supply chain partners.

He is familiar with standard and non-standard procurement routes, well versed in local and national markets and able to provide advice on added value, sustainability, specification alternatives, recycled material use, recycling potential, buildability and betterment.

Kevin Holland – Heritage Works Contracts Manager

City & Guilds Advanced Craft in Stonemasonry, ONC Building Technology, NEBOSH General and CITB SMSTS Project Manager qualified, Kevin is an exceptionally talented stone and heritage project specialist.

Decades of experience on conservation guideline projects from £5000 to £4,500,000 leading Customers, User Groups, Design Teams, Funding Institutions and other stakeholders. His senior management roles include numerous specialist subcontract and Principal Contract high profile historic building, traditional skill, heritage projects.

He has excellent core technical knowledge of the construction industry and sound commercial grasp, is comfortable leading surveys, scheduling and providing expert advice.

Lee Westerman

Lee Westerman – Special/Bespoke Projects Contracts Manager

Level 3 NVQ and Advanced Craft in Shopfitting, Asbestos Management in Construction and CITB SMSTS Project Manager qualified, Lee is a very capable senior construction manager and provides best-of-both-worlds experience in managing and advanced craft working on all types, scopes and sizes of new build, refurbishment and fit-out contracts.

Highly skilled in achieving bespoke solutions on non-standard and ‘one-off’ construction projects from £25,000 to £2,500,000 by making the right decisions under pressure and managing the right people to do the right things at the right times.

He has expert multi-trades technical grasp and leads equally well on quality, health and safety, environmental, programme, commercial matters and apprentice skills development.
